Most of what we do for money is training and high impact consulting. Here are some ways we have configured that for clients:
The boxes below represent a 5-day week.
With that diagramming convention in mind, consider these possibilities…
Some clients ask for a standalone webinar. We negotiate the topic and quote you a price for it.
Many clients ask for our flagship RST class (now called “Rapid Software Testing Explored”). This is a three-day onsite class. We are usually asked to start it on one of the first three days of the week, just so it’s all on one week.
Sometimes we are asked to do talks about testing to the whole company, interspersed with the training.
Although RST Explored is usually the first class clients choose to take, we also do RST Applied, which covers less material but has longer exercises for practice. Either class can be done first; they complement each other.
We also teach an online version of RST Applied. This is ten webinars over three days, with one long exercise each day. The class experience takes up about two thirds of a day, each day. Note that the online version is only taught in the Pacific time zone. But the webinars are recorded, so it can be taken in a time-delayed way.
Some clients engage us for the whole week, which often takes the form of a class followed by consulting…
…or followed by lectures and other interactive training that may be delivered to a wider group. (Note that the size of the RST classes themselves is limited to 25 students at a time. But we do lectures to groups of any size.)
Of course, this can be mixed and matched however you like.
Since the class sizes are limited, clients with up to 50 students sometimes have us do two classes back-to-back…
Another way to do that is a split of two, two-day versions of the class, where everyone comes together for a third day that is more lecturey.
Instead of a class, you may want consulting that focuses on a specific problem in the realm of software testing strategy or organization. Sometimes clients ask us to demonstrate Rapid Software Testing on a live project, for instance. We can do some lectures in there, as well, if you want.
Some larger clients have us do a series of classes over an extended time period. For instance, starting with RST Explored, and then a few weeks or months later doing an Applied class (if everyone has taken RST Explored, a two-day version of the Applied class can work well, because of the overlap between the two classes).
There are lots of different ways to follow-on, such as the coaching class…
…the management class…
…the online version of RST Applied…
…ordinary consulting to help deploy and adapt the RST methodology…
…or just periodic follow-up phone calls with your internal leadership or test coaches (we generally don’t charge for that).
Sometimes it takes a few conference calls to discuss these options and figure out what you want to do. We’re happy to work with you on that.
