We’ve Hired My Sister– Website Will Improve Soon!
Satisfice, Inc. welcomes my sister Erika Good to our company. She’s our new Director of Marketing and Communication.
Erika is two years older than me. When I first got kicked out of my home, in 1981, I was a freshman in high school. Erika and I would meet each morning (on the mornings I didn’t oversleep or otherwise skip school) in the school library to check in. Later, it was Erika who alerted my father that I had started drinking, which is why I have only been drunk twice in my life– both when I was 15 years old– and why I barely ever drink now. Erika and I have always had a bond. Now she and my wife Lenore will share the burden of keeping me productive when I’m on the road and helping me organize and publish all my stuff.
Erika is quiet, polite, and unassuming (the opposite of me, in other words); a dedicated housewife and mother of two grown boys. She’s also an expert marksman (she competed as a member the Vermont National Guard pistol team— wait, she’s saying it was the rifle team. How did I not know that?), an artist, an author as well as a private pilot and webmaster, who also helps run her husband’s property business… Geez, I didn’t realize how much she’s done until I had to write that sentence!
One immediate effect she will have is on our long neglected website. She’s already put up the announcement of the Rapid Testing Intensive, and added a video page. She’s helping me create a brand new bibliography and resource list. She’s going to add tags to all the blog entries and get a lot more content published that has been sitting on my hard drive.

Hi James
Great to hear! Looking forward to your updated book recommendations.
BTW: Your link to “brand new bibliography” leads to an empty page as there is an “e” before satisfice in the URL.
Best
Ilari
[James' Reply: "esatisfice" is correct. I got some other part of the URL wrong. It's fixed, now. "esatisfice" is a special account I share with my sister for the purpose of doing this special book list.]

Sounds like you’ve got a nice family business going. Looking forward to the Rapid Testing Intensive. I also really like the new bibliography. Does it frighten / excite you to think of how many hours you’ve spent reading and thinking about all those books? As an onlooker, the larger the bibliography the more ideas on what to read next. (I’m assuming all the books listed you’ve found to have some insight into testing?) Perhaps a ranking systems?
I just came across the videos on Buccaneer-Scholar website. I think Erika should add a few of those to the video page as well – especially the one where you and Jon select books from your bookshelf and have 8 or so hours to make a presentation. Very fun!
[James' Reply: The bibliography is a work in progress. I've come up with a system of tags. I'm now tagging all the books in the bibliography. Next I must write capsule reviews. And THEN we will formally replace the existing bibliography with the new one.
Yeah, I think you're right about the videos.]

A few days ago I had not heard a word about James Bach but now I am reading your book “Secrets of a Buccaneer-Scholar”.
I find it very interesting and it is filled a lot of wisdom. I see from my reading that your are a very curious man who asks a lot of questions. Then, my question is, Are you of Jewish origin?
[James' Reply: I'm not, but I have a great admiration for the intellectual tradition of the Jews.]

James, you are first true self learner and then fabulous trainer. I feel the way of thinking is blneds with yours. Book “Secrets of a Buccaneer-Scholar” gives confidence to the people who have interest they can learn anything and more over there is no specific degree require to learn as long as you have starving interest in you.

James, Lenore and Erika,
As much as I don’t understand testing or half of the things James mentions related to it, I can sense the brilliance, learning and teaching going on through Satisfice, and it’s very cool to see Erika is now a part of that.
Congrats to all.
